Much of the basic support to use SHA-256 is there, but a lot of the finishing work is not, so it remains unused. Now Eric Biederman has surfaced with a set of patches to provide interoperability between SHA-1 and SHA-256 repositories:https://firstname.lastname@example.org/
Someday, maybe, this transition will actually happen. Maybe.
