My son just made contacts from So. California to Illinois and Missouri on 10m, so that solar storm not wiping things out. Maybe chased people off the radio a wee bit early.

@ai6yr I'll say it again (and no doubt will always do so)...look at the solar weather and band reports AFTER you spend time on the radio. Never before.

@W6KME @ai6yr I look especially when there's a big storm, but I always check firsthand on the radio anyway because you never know... I did make a POTA contact today on 10m from CA to TX. QSB was a steady, bug roller coaster ride but signal reports both ways were 57 when the conditions peaked. You never know so I always try!

@croyle @ai6yr A friend was activating a SOTA peak this morning with 5 watts, and I was listening to the pileup he had from all over the country. OF course, CW does a great job cutting through noise.
