Red Hat is hiring a kernel engineer for RISC-V enablement and support. This will be highly Fedora-focused work.

Note that the job is out of the Waterford, Ireland office.

@andymeak

Yeah, it is definitely specialized. If you know anyone who might fit the bill, though, please pass it on!

@esmil @mattdm In Ireland too! I didn't realise there was a RH office in Waterford.

@mattdm @andymeak Having a highly specialized job that requires to relocate to a … sorry … backwater town is quite an ask.

@Profpatsch @andymeak

Red Hat is prioritizing hiring at what they're calling our "hot spots", and backwards or not, that's one of 'em!

@gregorni

We're already involved — this is an increase in investment, and a rare *new* position that doesn't say "ai! ai! ai!"

@mattdm That is true. It's refreshing to every once in a while see development that isn't AI related 😅

@gregorni

Although, I'm sure AI will sneak in somehow. :)

@mattdm Looking forward to the day when we can drop a RISC-V board into the Framework Laptop. Thanks for paving the way!

@stargazer_alpha

It's going to be some time before there are really viable laptop options, but things are just getting started. Hopefully, lessons learned from ARM will make a difference.
