Asking for a friend:

Is it normal in kernel maintainership to mean to do X, then find yourself spending _all day_ doing Y, where Y is often responding to on-list messages (+ often weeping)?

And next-level: consider weekends blessed times where one can actually do X? Rather than you know, relax like a sane person?
