Can we please stop discussing or talking seriously about becoming willingly a part of the crumbling United States

Let's not pretend the stuff the orange dictator says is something less then illegal annexation

Stop feeding the idea and call it for what it is:

dictatorial territorial expansionism

@stux I was completely unaware that anyone was treating the idea seriously except for the US fascist government. Good lord, that's scary. Canada is a strong country of its own, with so many cultures incorporated (some more smoothly than others) and everything it needs. What a nightmare. I hope y'all vote against your fascists and we manage to dislodge our own so that someday in the near-ish future, our nations can once again be good neighbors and maybe friends. (It's all our fault.)

@stux Imperialist fantasies with expansionist policies have always been a hallmark of fascism.

@stux The word that comes to mind for me is "anschluss".

Not sure why I don't seem more people making that comparison. The similarities are not coincidental.

@stux I agree we should stop talking about it seriously, but for a different reason. *Nobody* believes that Canada will become part of the US, nobody. It's a distraction; as long as we're screaming about this idiocy, we're not paying attention to all the nasty shit that actually *is* happening. People need to stop chasing these squirrels.

@stux Let's not pretend the stuff the orange dictator says is something other than empty words designed to provide a distraction for a few days and get himself on the front page.
