@ljs interesting how some people forget that open source is about people, and working together and respectful is a must in a open source project. The only person that seems to not care about its users is Kent, who is doing everything he can to piss everybody, making it impossible for working with him and thus not merging fixes for his "perfect" filesystem.
@ljs The framing ("losing a feature") is especially bad. Bcachefs can always be distributed out of tree. Distros can always re-include it if they want (see also: secure boot). Linus isn't actually all-powerful, this is FOSS. If, on a "purely technical" basis, bcachefs is so superior, there are plenty of avenues for users to get it.
And for all the "context" the Reg provides about Ted & btrfs, they neglect to mention how the default Fedora install has used btrfs since v33! Not exactly unstable..
@ljs Wow, they read those emails, and THAT was their takeaway? I... I don't know what to say...
@ljs omg nobody tell that person we've also lost reiserfs over personality issues recently
@lkundrak @ljs @pony here it's alleged that there's a talk about it for 6.18 https://lore.kernel.org/all/5ip2wzfo32zs7uznaunpqj2bjmz3log4yrrdezo5audputkbq5@uoqutt37wmvp/
