Finally finished Stranger Things.

What a disappointment. Not unexpected though, everything after season 2 was just hot garbage.

Aside from my earlier rant about the first half of season 5, it was just bad.

Took everything that made the early episodes good and rushed out the worst version they could. It was evident nobody cared about the completion of it.

A meandering mess of bad story beats, irritating characters, progressively worse acting (somehow), and utterly contemptible visual and audio design. And probably the worst offender? Continuity.

Sidebar nerdy nitpick… I think the switch to ARRI glass and large format sensors was a big mistake because sucked all of the character out of the image.

I haven’t been this irritated by a TV show for a long while.

@SecurityWriter

It wasn’t as bad as the ending of Battlestar Galactica.

All of the emotional wrap-up bits at the end would have had a lot more impact if the characters had had personalities, rather than a sequence of unrelated behaviours. I spent most of the last couple of seasons trying to work out which of the generic boys and girls the current focus of the story was. Ah, generic boy 4 and generic boy 5 are arguing about generic girl 3 (I think, or is she generic girl 4?).

@david_chisnall don’t you dare bring up the memories I’ve pushed deep down. 😂

@david_chisnall @SecurityWriter I skipped a couple of years and watched the last episode. Glad I didn’t waste any more time on it.

@david_chisnall @SecurityWriter I have always wondered if I have missed something as I couldn't finish BSG. I stopped (twice) when religion wonkiness begins, "awakenings" start to happen and character focus changes.. Sounds like it just gets worse.
