I just stumbled across the "Open Source Endowment":

Seems like a good cause, but the page to nominate a project for funding requires a GitHub URL to identify that project. There are, I guess, no open-source projects outside of GitHub?

@corbet Hey @osi , why are you requiring that nominated projects use GitHub? Seems that an increasing number of projects are leaving GitHub in favor of Codeberg, Gitlab and others because Microsoft is pushing their AI so hard. (I would have quoted Corbet's post if he hadn't disabled quoting, see the parent).

@alison @webmink @corbet @osi Yes, I found that out independently after I commented. So perhaps this should be seen not as a gift, but as an investment to stop the bleeding from Github driving people away by aggressively pushing their AI tools.
