I'd advise any normal human being to use mac os day-to-day. For the rest of us there's linux

@ljs And for those who like pain and suffering, there's Windows.

@ljs I spent this morning showing a nice lady at our how to add more memory and a new ssd to her 10 year old laptop and how to install linux mint on it. She was sold with just the live usb test with no upgrades because it was so much faster and zoom worked.

As a bonus it found and connected to a printer that I didn't even know was there.

@ianturton you're doing the lord's work, I still feel that linux falls down in the 'if something goes wrong you have to grep for stuff' category for normie use (excluding android/chrome os from this obv).

I mean I use linux as a daily driver and fucking love it (I may be biased lol) but can't recommend it for functional adults due to the 'if something goes wrong then you're on your own' thing.

@ljs All she needs is a web browser, all the university stuff is in online portals now, so she really doesn't need to shell out for a new Windows 11 capable laptop regardless of what the university says.
