is there a service for making (very basic) email newsletters that isn't evil or like infested with 950 trackers on every page?

in the past i used mailchimp but i vaguely recall there's reasons not to do it today

@whitequark I have tried and failed to find one, I'm personally probably gonna use AWS' email thingy

@cadey that's somewhat upsetting

@whitequark Buttondown seems decent, at least as far as I can tell. They provide an RSS feed for any mailing list (at least those without a paywall) so I don’t actually know what their web pages are like. I think that somewhat answers your question.

@samir thanks, that's a good lead!

@whitequark KDE self-hosts listmonk for newsletter management, but I guess that's not an option if you don't already have a mail server with all the reputation/deliverability issues sorted out.

@nicolas17 I do, but I'm not sure I want to start sending bulk mail from it

@whitequark I use mailerlite for our baseball association, but I cannot attest to its "non-evilness".
