I've got a bit further with the audio code that has been appearing once in a while.
It's a tracker but there is not instrument list. Instead instrument number is plugin number in the mixer tracks chain.
It neither has internal sampler or similar instruments i.e. a purist clap tracker ;-)
To simplify things, or keep sequencing ergnomic, I won't support group tracks. Intead you have route sinks to the source of some bus track. This importantly reduces tracker's command format to something that it is understandble.

I had already tons of code for track groups including UI code but I wiped that away :-) This is one thing I've been stuck for a long time i.e., what does instrument mean semantically in my software. Now I know what to keep and what to remove.
Interface will be software rendering only with focus of making frame update efficient and my only graphics library is the awesome minifb :-) it's my favorite graphics library
