@rvedotrc The training modules I see are so painfully slow. Oddly enough, these tech companies seem to forget about neurodivergance & how awful these things are for so. many. tech. workers.

I'm not interested in having Fedi 'splained to me. I'm just saying why more Black folk are on BlueSky:

1. It should be almost impossible for a new, non-technical user to onboard onto the Fediverse and accidentally join a server where they will receive racist death threats.

2. It should not be possible for racists to reply to a Black user's post with hateful gore images, without other users on the server knowing it.

3. It should be easy for a new admin to default into a safe, general denylist.

@gigabecquerel @Natanox I love how nuclear physics instrumentation is so OG.

@va3db is QEX paper only? I couldn't figure it out when I last looked into it.

@jayulfelder Anti-trans speech is a form of violence, in my view.

Slow but sure progress on my 1kW HF/VHF amplifier power supply. Bought a PCB for the Eltek module and decided to solder the output wires (10 AWG THHN) rather than use the more common XT-60 connectors. After some research, I found out that XT-60s, commonly used for drones & RC batteries, are only rated at 30A continuous. The 60A figure is for peak current, and the available specs are very light on details generally. This PSU is being built for 40A continuous (at 50v), so the XT-60 is not sufficient. Next up will be to connect this Sparkfun CAN shield to configure & monitor the Eltek.

This is all rack mountable & could be installed into gator cases for portable use with a generator. I like rack mounting into gator cases for home use generally as it can be all kept clean & self contained. And easily moved.

And here is the power supply. 50 VDC @ 40A max. I’m using a surplus Flatpack2 server PSU, with space for a 2nd to run in parallel or backup. Also room for 28V (for relays) & 13.8V modules.

@itaru @LinuxSecSummit yes if they fit the charter of Linux security development & collaboration.

@abraxas3d ok, seems problematic that anyone can modify someone else’s application.

Next project: assemble these components from W6PQL into an MF/HF/6m amplifier. It’s specified for 1kW but I suspect it can do more. #amateurradio #hamradio

@mpi_grav also fascinating -- the optimistic articles in that newsletter from 2012, before gravitational waves had been detected. This is history happening right in front of us.

@vk6flab no, it splits out channels from the sampled rf and demodulates them to audio, and then each audio channel is fed to its own wsjtx instance. I believe there are gnuradio modules which can decode these protocols, but this works.
