The most appropriate quote from the article: "There followed an extended and sometimes heated discussion on the details that, in your editor's opinion, is not really worth reproducing here."

@vbabka I'm still finishing up my sframe discussion for LSFMM/BPF (for if they put it back on the schedule) and then I'm going to start my talk for Linux on!

I’m debugging something that is causing a lockup, where I only get a single line out on the crash (no stackdump, nada!). Frustrated, I thought about slapping printk()’s all over the place, and then thought to myself. Hmm, it would be much nicer to just hook function tracing to printk….

Coming soon: ftrace_printk!

@torvalds I've always struggled with the concept of a Turing Machine creating consciousness. I believe consciousness can only be achieved through analog means. As computers only work in digital, it could not achieve this. I truly believe consciousness, by its very nature, can only be achieved with the use of irrational numbers.

@takaswie @wagi and for a program that requires specific ftrace events for!

@takaswie you may not need to backport libnih. One of the first things I want to change after using only upstream trace events is to remove the dependency on libnih!
