@kernellogger from skimming, it seems like the thing to do here is add fixes tags for both the original commit and the incomplete fix? At least that's what I would do.

@kernellogger Right, I did note that the original commit did not set one. Since that precludes doing double Fixes tags, I'd add one only for the incomplete fix, so that they would be backported together, iff ever needed.

@kernellogger @conor yeah the usage of Fixes: to make sure backports get where there are needed is IMHO the most important, and not some ideal that's impossible to achieve in some situations.
