@kernellogger these commits can get rebased before -> mainline though right? So a given -next hash might only actually exist in the -next tree.

Typically I have abominated and just searched by author etc. in mainline but I don't advise that

@kernellogger I guess it depends on how -next itself is rebased...

Not to be one of those very annoying people who doesn't answer a question but says 'why don't you X instead?' buuut

Why don't you just check in mainline repo instead? I guess because you'd need to pull that too and not so quick?

@kernellogger yeah I know I know, I'm sorry, I know that's the most irritating thing going, forgive me 🙏

I have a suspicion that it'll be a product of how precisely -next gets generated (it gets rebased often it seems) but people might have smart ideas.
