@gabriel @kroc @ActionRetro @internetarchive Got it up and running. #Linux really has come a far way. I would struggle to use this back in 1997 but would probably just have to adapt.
@jarkko @ActionRetro @internetarchive @kroc @adacosta xfig was great. I also used Dia a few years later.
@ActionRetro longed for an alternative universe where that went to production for x86 and PPC. Looking forward to this one
@ActionRetro Why didn't you hot swap the floppy and CD? Or does the driver floppy still need to be inserted when reading the CD?
Boot floppy and then hot swapping to CD is how I installed a multitude of Linuxes (and maybe Darwin, can't remember) on my 760EL circa 2001.
@ActionRetro excited to watch! I'm hoping to stream some experimentation of 5.6 on PPC soon, maybe even see if I can do some coding on it
@ActionRetro Could you convert your physical #Redhat 5.2 #Linux into a #VM and post it on Internet Archive?
@adacosta @ActionRetro I have a KVM / QEMU VM of Red Hat 5.2, with a bit of work still to be done on the X, but otherwise fine. How can I do that that you want?
@gabriel @ActionRetro Can you upload it somewhere I can download it from there?
@adacosta @ActionRetro I'm uploading the RAW files and some links to archive.org. Finally I'm uploading a RedHat 5.1 because it works better and works at all --the 5.2 has decided to have a corrupt LILO. Will post the link here later on.
@adacosta @ActionRetro Red Hat 5.1 VM : Red Hat, Inc. : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive https://archive.org/details/red-hat-5.1 via @internetarchive
@gabriel @ActionRetro @internetarchive Thank you, downloading now. #appreciateyou
@gabriel @adacosta @ActionRetro @internetarchive Will this work on VirtualBox?
@kroc @adacosta @ActionRetro @internetarchive check the notes on the upload, there is a command to convert it to VirtualBox. I couldn't test it though --I don't use VirtualBox currently.
@gabriel @kroc @ActionRetro @internetarchive Converted, but get this error:
