I'm in DC and there's a giant biology conference going on and out of the background noise emerged the word "Xenotransplants" and I am too scared to listen more closely to determine the context
This is made more concerning by the fact that it's a neuroscience conference and so I do not know which organs they were discussing
Ok I checked with a neuroscientist friend at the conference and she points out it plausibly means sticking human neurons in animal models and that makes far more senae
@mjg59 There have been a bunch of research projects lately with human neurons in e.g. rats demonstrating that they can fuse with the rat brain, detect signals from the rat's body, and generally be studied in a much more realistic environment than a petri dish.
