Got a new Thinkpad, booted it into Windows for the first time to apply bios updates and such, and wow -- Windows feels awful now. What happened?!
I gave Windows 10 a lot of credit for really turning a corner, but the latest version feels like it's Microsoft's laptop and not my own.
Also, it took me a while just to find the start menu. Ads everywhere. Pop ups demanding that I connect to a myriad of cloud services. 🥵
@major
What is this Windows you're talking about? 🤔
@major It's incredible how bad it is out of the box. It's almost tolerable if you start disabling stuff and removing the ad bits but it shouldn't require this much work. Can't do firmware updates from Linux?
@achilleas I was feeling a bit lazy. Not sure I'll go that route again (Linux works fine with firmware updates as well)
@major you actually let it boot into Windows? There’s nothing for it I’m afraid. You’ll need to remove the storage, incinerate it, fit a new drive and install Fedora. 😁
