so yeah I can confirm you can cool a thinkpad effectively with freezer blocks if the fan won't turn on

@trechnex It's thankfully only got to survive a few more hours. I saw what was happening and ordered an ideapad to replace it

@babe Can does not mean should. If you cool it so much that water condenses, that's bad news.

@babe I have successfully used the bags of frozen peas trick to recover data from hard drives with head crashes.

I have also gotten A LOT better about backups.

@Devils_Rancher I used to just stick them in a freezer for an hour and say a few hail marys. Works a treat

And yeah so have I. I lost a few gig of work a while ago over not backing up, too. That was quite a lesson
