Edit: there are suggestions out there that this story is not actually true. So sad, who ever heard of something not being true on the Internet? But does anybody doubt that something like this *will* be true in the near future?

Even if the story about Internet connected toothbrushes isn't true, this has happened before with other IoT devices.
The warning to not make insecure devices that are connected to a global network remains relevant.

samueljohnson@mstdn.social@themamiyaman @corbet The "need" for a smart toothbrush is one felt by Philips to a) require you to use a new brush every so often and b) v likely, restrict you to using only Philips brush heads.
