Okay the kettle boiled, wikihow says to let it sit for an hour

it says not to handle the kettle or contents while the kettle is warm to the touch. it STILL is. the burner is OFF I assure you

I'm pretty sure the interior of the kettle is as clean as it's getting. Having trouble with the exterior. Tried dish soap, tried magic erasers (generic), there's just some grime that won't leave.
@trini any thoughts? I consider you a cleaning expert

@lapis Oh goodness... Uh, how important is getting it spotless? And what's the exterior? I would on the one hand suggest the baking soda trick one can use for getting baking sheets clean again (which I'd have to look up) but on the other hand worry about that being perhaps too abrasive. Our aesthetic tends to lean towards lovingly used so we have some stuff that Just Looks Like That, Now.

@trini @lapis I've found washing soda is really good at getting some flavors of grime off, it's super good for tea/coffee residue. PBW is a mix of that and TSP, which is a super strong combo but isn't so good for the environment so I try and start with just the washing soda.
