Bought a keyboard from Keyboardio. It finally arrived despite Fedex's best efforts. Walnut. Brown.

It came with a handy travel case, various cables, a key puller, and a screwdriver. In case you're wondering.

The keyboard itself.

@liw my attention is drawn to the two prominent keys that promise "fun"

@hko Why would you use a keyboard that doesn't have fun?

@liw @hko it’s the “any” key that makes me groan 🫠

@andrewg @hko Here's a sample of the output from the "Any" key: yc6tase5voqkkmsvot236d27qm5cki.

It's not a secure random generator.

@Koehr I press the fun keys with my palm, and after the initial learning period I very rarely press them by mistake.

Overall, I find the Model100 to be the best keyboard I've ever used in my 40+ years of touch typing.

@liw Sounds like split ergonomic keyboards are the one needed to make good softwares 😉

@jean_dupont They're not necessary, but good tools make development more fun.

@hko @liw haha, I not only own one of those, I maintain a fork of the firmware 🙃 (in which the any key doesn’t do that)

@andrewg @hko A fork of the firmware? Anything I might be interested in?

@liw @hko It’s fairly out of date, it doesn’t use any fancy modules (because I have no need for them) but it does rearrange the default layout to a) get rid of some annoyances while b) remaining usable across multiple OS keymaps. Le tme dig it out and see if it still compiles… 🙃

@liw @hko maybe I should have said “used to maintain” 😳

@andrewg @hko Hm, I don't use non-standard module, and the only layout change I make is NumLock to ScrollLock, which I use as my Compose key.

@andrewg @hko Meaning: please don't go into any trouble for this. If you have a link to a source repo, that's all I need to decide if I want to dive in further.
