@thcrt The torturer pulls out another metal implement...

"JUST TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW"

"I already have, please stop. I have children"

"DON'T LIE TO ME! YOU SPENT 3 HOURS ON THEIR WEBSITE. WHAT SERVICES DO THEY PROVIDE?!"

"Please! I've told you everything"

@4censord this is the similarly unhelpful github repository readme because the company is actually open source but they don’t want anyone actually hosting their product because their cloud solution is way more expensive

examples include synology, asana, docker/podman/kubernetes, solr and mongodb. and those are just the ones i remember or could find from a quick search

AWS is the worst offender i’ve seen though. they Do Not Want you to know what anything actually does

@thcrt To be fair on Kubernetes, it’s incomprehensible even when you know what it’s for and what it does.

@thcrt see also: companies which have exactly one (1) product used by every company in the world, but don't mention it ANYWHERE and you can only find it via the wikipedia page of companies run by known criminals

@mtraven23 @thcrt @mallory I would have to study that further to make any conclusions but back when I read that write up in early 00's I did not know even who Joel Spolsky was I just agreed with the text :-)

If I was interpreting it on the basis that the author is also authority you would have a point but based on that it could have been written by anyone and I would still agree with the text, I think the content is still valid, right?

@mtraven23 @mallory @thcrt If, let's pick a horrible person, JD Vance wrote a good text on engineering, I would buy it, no question, that's IMHO the art of being analytical :-)
