Maybe Valerie's playing with my head, but she says she saw someone trying to service the X-ray machine at the airport this way. I have no idea if it's turned on and how long it takes to get a cumulative lethal dose.

@BrucePerens_K6BP I bet there's silly things like stuck trays and stuff where you just need to dislodge them.

@drewdevault - one can hope. I suspect that a qualified technician can actually open that machine, and servicing it by crawling into such a confined space just doesn't seem like it would be OSHA approved. Lockout tag out systems also require a confined space approval, mostly for asphyxiation issues with tanks where rust can remove all the oxygen, but also for difficulty of escape.

@BrucePerens_K6BP My guess would be days. People were using unshielded, real-time Xrays before risks were known, and yes, it killed _few_.
