I don't want another giant fricken flat smooth brick of a phone..
linux nerds should revive older format devices like the BB, the sidekicks, idk, why are we all just cool with:
"yes this smooth screen thing that breaks after falling five inches, is the *perfect* and final evolution of mobile design"
At least the newer folding phones are a Lil more interesting, but not by much
@MadameMalady I don't hate the flat slab design, it does a decent job at getting the largest screen area into your pocket and no moving parts make it fairly durable, but I would like to see Linux running on a foldable. Unfolding a phone into a small tablet gives twice the screen area along with a more square aspect ratio, which could be very useful for using a Linux phone as a small pocketable PC to run desktop applications. Physical keyboard sliders would be nice to see again too.
@neil @MadameMalady I really* liked the G1 Android phone.
*) The screen was tiny, and the keyboard rubbish, but a smaller, fatter device with a slide-out keyboard that still functioned in portrait mode was a pretty good design, IMHO.
@jens @neil @MadameMalady I almost think I could stand a tiny phone, with a separate PDA-ish thing for “doing stuff”. Suspect where it falls down is, the main times I want a tiny phone are also the times I want a reasonable camera.
