Years ago, Mike Lynch and Stephen Chamberlain sold Autonomy to HP. HP asserted that they deceptively inflated the value of the company and sued them. They were acquitted. Shortly afterward, both died in separate accidents, Chamberlain was run over while bicycling and Lynch's "superyacht" sunk in a storm while surrounding boats were unaffected. ...

... Also killed were Lynch's daughter, the lawyer who defended Lynch and Chamberlain in the case and his wife, and Morgan Stanley executive Johnathan Bloomer and his wife.

It is impossible to know if there was any foul play from this distance. But these deaths require serious investigation.

@BrucePerens_K6BP Yacht went down in seriously bad weather, AFAICT. It is hard to see foul play in that. (In a similar way Polish government deaths in airplane accident were .... accidents, too).

@pavel - I did see the video. It''s shot in a harbor. Not at sea. And it doesn't actually show the capsize. Just the boat leaning a bit (as sailboats do in the wind).

@BrucePerens_K6BP @pavel
No ‘ordinary’ sailboat, a Perini Navi design. Curious to know if its design as a ‘superyacht’ involves any compromises that suggest it shouldn’t be exposed to heavy weather.

@guardeddon @pavel - Their web site is down, and the interviews with the CEO have him blaiming errors in the operation. I know a US vessel would have been required to float when swamped. UK has two volumes of regulations for large commercial yachts, I suspect they would want the same.

@BrucePerens_K6BP @guardeddon I'm not watching that too closely. Our media described yacht as "virtually unsinkable", and from Titanic times, that's best way to make sure it sinks :-).

@guardeddon @BrucePerens_K6BP Yeah "superyacht". So made in small series. Described as unsinkable. Hmm.. hmm. If common yacht such as Bavaria 36 sank, we'd know more from statistics, but it is quite easy to make very flawed design if you make small series...
