Don't tell my current employer, but I think I want to go back to the games industry. Non-games programming is just painful to me. It's all object oriented madness and the term "performance" doesn't even exist. All I do is glue code.

If it's really object orientation and wasting resources have a look at companies that do embedded programming.

@Korfox Guess what I'm doing right now 🙃

Hardware is cheap. Embedded systems are full blown Linux distributions nowadays. They're basically shipping a Raspberry Pi, at least in this particular instance, and the whole thing is an absolute mess. And by "mess" I don't mean the code. I mean they are spending most of their time talking, planning and debating about the most miniscule of issues. Nobody makes any meaningful progress. It's driving me insane.

@fell You may want to play with smartwatch. I recommend Bangle.js2 . Its very, very easy to run into performance problems there :-).
