Why has nobody apparently yet made a #heatpump waterbed that keeps itself at a nice constant temperature and in particular can be cooler than room temperatures in summer. It ought to be the ideal application, small temperature shifts in both directions and no venting needed as it'll be ok moving heat between the water and room.
@etchedpixels No, needs venting, I don't want to heat up the room, even If I can sleep on cold water.
@etchedpixels There’s stuff like Eight Sleep and competitors out there - they tend not to be marketed as heat pumps but it’s what they’re doing, typically they’re mattress covers rather than full on beds (which seems reasonable, gives you a lot more options).
@pavel Yep an electric blanket is way cheaper than heating the whole room (although of course you then get into mould, freezing pipes and the world I grew up with before central heating of not wanting to get out of bed and then seeing how fast you could simultaneously wash and get a full set of clothes on as you did so in the freezing cold air.
@broonie @etchedpixels I've recently seen ads for actively cooled Tempur Pedic beds as well.
