street cleaning today, it was announced by multiple signs (creating obstacles on the sidewalk, ofc), yet they are still towing about 15 cars still parked there, do they like not give a fuck or what

@pony It's a classic for residents to abandon their car in the street for weeks at a time (if they go on vacation?). People think it works like private storage

@pony are they just towing them around the corner? Or to some compound outside the city?

@jon i don't know really, but i doubt they can just dump them around the corner
however the parking for towed car is far from the outside of the city, some are even in rather central locations

@pony in Berlin they just tow them around the corner, so you never solve the problem. Hence the question!

@jon it's only for street cleaning this time, the cars are there legally and it's a proper designated parking space (however much i'd rather have wider sidewalk and maybe a tree or two), but i think they always tow to a dedicated spot, the problem is they rarely ever do it in the first place, it's very rare

@DiegoBeghin @pony this was an idea I was thinking about to clear Berlin's abandoned cars - crowd-fund the hire of those signs, and get cars towed. But then seeing that Berlin just tows to the next available spot you just shift the problem a few metres!
