so true honestly I fucking hate modern app notifications. what happened to keeping notifs to a minimum I feel like every new app I download I have to just disable notifications for out of the box.

@puppygirlhornypost2 I'm with you on this one, but there's a very simple explanation for this -- when you're not using the app, you're not generating user data that the company was planning to sell. So, when you install an app but don't actually use it, you're a) bringing down someone's KPIs, b) eating into the company's planned revenue.

(My apologies if I came across as a rando explain guy -- I actually had this very conversation with one of my kids very recently, so it was fresh on my mind.)

@monsieuricon @puppygirlhornypost2 That's why I did this for Husky: if you don't give the permission, no notification is shown for anything.

@monsieuricon @puppygirlhornypost2

Companies need to learn that we don't owe them profit.

They need to earn profit by being useful and respecting the customer, people get really angry about being forced into abusive commercial relationships.

@puppygirlhornypost2 Broken notifications in GrapheneOS (without GSF) are a blessing in disguise. I was annoyed at first, but now I only receive notifications that I explicitly allow - so calls/sms, signal, matrix and medication reminder (otherwise i would forget to take my ADHD meds). That's it.

@monsieuricon @puppygirlhornypost2 not only that, but each notification is designed to deliver a small peak of dopamine, which gets us even more hooked to our phones.
