@MekahimeAkari nice, my gr yaris covers that off (it's shockingly fast), but also has great rally-style handling etc. with the awd.

But yeah obviously not got that creative element a kit car would have.

I just like the sensation of speed the visceral life-affirming thing from a car like that, I'm no real petrol head beyond that.

It's nice to have physical, visceral things when you live in your head all the time...

@ljs I've heard so many good things about the GR Yaris, it's nice to hear a corroborating first hand opinion!

I totally agree, my drive home always helps me unwind... the straightforward and mechanical is also quite soothing to me after being so deep in the absurd complexity of computing systems and software

@MekahimeAkari I wfh but in the countryside so no commute but justified in having a car and use for smaller journeys but also driving for fun and stress relief... and such.

I mean you _need_ a car out here really but having one opens the door to fun.

I only got this one literally on... monday lol.

I had a c63 ages ago before this, then a corolla (gr sport -trim level- so a bit more power but nothing at all as fast as this).

The gr is faster than my c63 was (hilarious really).

Anyway I'm learning to drive a manual again, been a while. Stalled a few times, less than I thought, gear changes a bit ropey but it's SO NICE to drive _this_ car manual, it's really suited to it and connects you to it, plus obviously you can drive it however you like that way.

@ljs C63 is a beast! I believe the GR Yaris is faster - lighter and short gearing, especially in the countryside, will make a big difference.

I live in a village outside the city where I work so I also need a car. I generally use my electric car (Honda E) for daily duties.

I hear you about the joy of mastering the manual transmission. My Cayman takes some effort to be smooth in (esp 1-2) so improving is very satisfying. Rev matching on downshifting/heel-and-toe is fun too

@MekahimeAkari yeah not sure I'll ever get heel-toe working, for me it's been the good old fashioned slowly move off clutch and switch foot from brake to gas.

Still not exactly smooth...

The car has an 'auto blipper' if you want to cheat though which will rev match for you, but preferring not to use that atm :P

The gear changes are very loud sounding in lower gears too, googled it and apparently it's just characteristic of the car which is, after all, a highly mechanical rally car basically
