I think I broke the wire to my MK3's hotend thermistor -- I keep getting random MAXTEMP errors.

I could fix the thermistor, or it looks like I could buy the MK3S+ -> MK4S upgrade kit and the MK4S -> Core One upgrade kit and turn my MK3 into a Core One for a little less than the price of a Core One.

@kbob Seems like solid reasoning to me πŸ‘πŸΌ

@kbob I mean, that sounds like a fun project to go through the upgrades. And you have a solid excuse ;)

@kbob if it's only a little less, buying a new kit and selling or donating the MK3S seems better. After the upgrade you'd end up with many parts that would become unused.

@kbob our MK4 thermistor wire came loose recently at the point where the regular wire and the thermally insulated wire joins. very odd, because the machine wasn't even printing at that moment, it just started to scream and reset. managed to just solder it back on and carry on with the day. however, iirc the error with broken wire was MINTEMP, not MAXTEMP? sounds to me like your thermistor has a short? (i've been wrong before!)

@lkundrak You are correct. I've been combing the Prusa knowledge base since I posted, and MAXTEMP does indicate a short.

I've ordered a replacement Thermistor + wire. The MK3 will live to fight another day.

And yes, the Core ONE and MK3 have in common only the power supply and possibly parts of the frame.
