Fun fact: China’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) gives its citizens better data privacy protections than the U.S. offers—yes, even when it comes to TikTok. Let that sink in.
If we’re so worried about TikTok, maybe it’s time to admit the U.S. is lagging behind in privacy laws.

The U.S. has no comprehensive federal data privacy law, leaving companies like Meta, Google, and even TikTok to exploit user data with minimal restrictions. Meanwhile, China’s PIPL, similar to GDPR, enforces stricter control over data collection.

If the U.S. truly cared about protecting citizens from data exploitation—whether by TikTok, Meta, or others—it would pass GDPR-like laws. Instead, we focus on bans and ignore the real issue: our lack of privacy legislation.

@chiefgyk3d Its not either/or situation. And TikTok is likely problem not only from privacy perspective -- they request permissions they don't need, so it is security problem, too.
