*Someone* seems keen to delete Wikipedia's article on Appin, the cyber mercenary firm we wrote about last year:

This is the second attempt to delete Appin's Wikipedia article; the first one was defeated this past December.

The author @pluralistic was among those who argued for its preservation.

The original investigation - here: https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-hackers-appin/ - has also been subject to attempts to remove it from the internet.

@razhael Creating wikipedia articles is hard these days. I tried with "AllatRa" which is quite an ugly cult, and could not. If someone can help...

@razhael @pluralistic

Because I'm sure a lot of your unsighted followers would like to read this image, here's some suggested

"Wikipedia comment from Cory Doctorow posted on 19 December 2023 stating: "This company is using bullying tactics to remove online mentions of its conduct. WP should be a repository for "items of encyclopedic note," not "items of encyclopedic note unless wealthy, powerful firms credibly accused of criminal acts would prefer not to have mentioned."

@TheSauce @razhael @pluralistic WP should be that but it hasn't been for ages. Especially so since they allowed paid editors.
