I've programmed computers since 1984 (https://liw.fi/40/). I was part of from the beginning. I was a developer for about 20 years (1996-2018). I care about and . I think about . @liw BTW how do you backup as of today? Thinking about refurnishing my local NAS backup strategy :-)

@jarkko Until I find a backup program I actually like and fully trust, I use rsync to a server and a USB drive, then "cp -al" to create a directory tree of hard link copies to a new directory named after the current date. It's annoying in many ways, but hasn't ever failed me.

I've tried e.g. restic but for some reason they don't stick on me...

I've used this lame backup tool that I wrote many years ago, which takes a selection of subdirectories and makes tar.xz out of them and copy that to my NAS:

Not even incremental/delta backup but it does the job and I keep only five backups in my circle...
