Help, I think my cat is a vampire
Luna came to us because her previous owner passed away. She didn't eat at all before a trip to the vet, but she is generally healthy.
She hides all day every day until sunset. That's the only time she will eat. She even approaches us for cuddles and playtime, but only at night. All night. We really can't sleep. At sunrise, she disappears in fear as if she forgot who we are.
Any tips on getting her used to daylight? πͺ

Adorable!π
My advice is to be around in the daytime and then when itβs bedtime you go to bed and kitty is either sleeping with you or you ignore herβ¦ which is hard to do I know, itβs gonna take time. (She might not ever become completely diurnal because sheβs a cat) π. Have calming things and fun toys available in the daytime, but put them away when itβs bedtime

She might need to learn that you will be there for her no matter what, and that interesting comforting things happen in the daylight hours.
@em_and_future_cats @cats@lemmy.world @cats@midwest.social We're home all day, so there are be plenty of opportunities. We could definitely get some more toys, but she doesn't even try playing with anything lying around in the house. Normally, if not toys, cats always find a bottle cap or something. Not her.
My wife tried convincing her with snacks, but no luck.

My only question is if her eyes are extra sensitive to sunlight, could she be suffering from migraines? It also could just be that something happened to her in the daytime and she has some trauma from it.
@em_and_future_cats @cats@lemmy.world @cats@midwest.social Maybe? π€ She's often squinting during the day.
@chickenf622 The problem is that she keeps us up at night and I fall asleep during my work day. She's been here two weeks now.

Your best bet would be to let her be her. If you really want to force her into daylight, you might consider a large cage to keep her in and leave it in the middle of the room.
@bardmoss @cats@lemmy.world @cats@midwest.social I don't want to force her into daylight. I just want to get at least some sleep at night π
