I hate English, part one million. I wrote a line of dialogue:

I can tell you’re not going to calm down.

But it didn’t seem quite right. So…

I can tell you are not going to calm down.

Better, but it’s too long. What about?…

I can tell you aren’t going to calm down.

I hate that English is like this. I never thought this would be part of being a writer :neocatflop__w:

@celestiallavendar I'd use "I can see" -- it kinda rolls better off the tongue in all three versions.
