I'm going on a 4 day vacation to the north sea tomorrow and I think I'm taking the @postmarketOS phone.

The 25.06 release is the one where finally everything clicks into place for me. It's super stable. I can even take pictures! Not the prettiest, but good enough to capture memories.

@fell @postmarketOS Well done. It's my daily driver now. Not without friction but a fun experiment

@davidoclubb @postmarketOS Yeah, it crashes if I don't close the camera app before turning the screen off for example. I can work around it.

@fell @zaunz @postmarketOS Which camera is that? I was told mainline on 6T only supports macro camera and selfie...?

@pavel @zaunz @postmarketOS Someone going by the name NekoCWD made a focus and exposure control called "cameractrl". This allowed me to take somewhat decent pictures.

You could say the camera driver has reached 1970s quality now. 👌

@fell @zaunz @postmarketOS And can it focus on infinity? Yesterday people were telling me camera can't physically focus far.

If it can focus on distant object, someone really needs to create patch for Megapixels.

@pavel @zaunz @postmarketOS I was able to focus on everything so far. The focue slider had to be at about 90% for most of these shots. I built "cameractrl" from source, so maybe it's a recent development?
The shots are pretty zoomed in, and I can't control the zoom. They work as memories for me. 🤷‍♂️

@fell @zaunz @postmarketOS The "pretty zoomed in" may be hardware limitation. The "90% range" is likely normal, too -- that's just how focus works. (Diopters, 1/m). But I like this. this is a real progress compared to my information from yesterday.
