For the love of god can we stop anthropomorphising LLMs. No, ChatGPT did not "come up with an excuse" or "think about its mistakes". Gemini did not "lie about its reasoning" or "struggle to understand basic concepts". Grok didn't "decide to praise Nazis" or "express it's support for genocide".

They're mimics designed cynically to trick you into assigning them a humanity that they'll never have, and giving them false agency allows their designers and creators an innocence they don't deserve.

It's just that it's in human nature to anthropomorphise *everything*. It's not going to stop, it's going to get worse.

@mdiluz Well, gpt-3 failed to multiply numbers, then lied when asked to do verification :-). Yes, I know how LMs work, still... How do you say that without anthromorphising? Its a chatbot and relatively good one... People are anthromorphising Elisa and bash...
