what's unfortunate is trump's success is being used as a template for other populist idiots around the world... sadly it works.

You do wonder what the role of social media has been in people thinking their shit takes are valid and therefore this other guy who also has shit takes but with narcissistic conviction is a 'person of the people'...

Obviously we have the business/tech equivalent in musk 'what if I just lie about everything and say every dumb thought in my head as if it were fact?' - it turns out becoming the richest guy alive...

@fustini yeah I mean I'm singling out the US but it isn't like this isn't already happening everywhere :)

Demagoguery has always been pretty bloody effective as a thing but it's sad/v. dangerous when it's so effective in the most powerful country on earth :(
