It’s crazy to see the amount of features to edit pictures in Google Photos that require network.. they can clearly implement them all in local, but you are forced to send all your pictures to their servers soon or late.

Coming from iOS, shit like this burns my nerves. Luckily f-droid comes with a bunch of decent free software alternatives to the stock apps.

@pancake I'm afraid free software is a way to go, even on phones.

And if you want to get rid of Android and run debian or PostmarketOS, we can do that, too, these days (on OnePlus 6, for example).

@pavel i was a firefoxos contributor before it was “mainstream” and early ubuntu touch user, openmoko, had all the nokia itt and sailfish, i have pixels with pmOS too, i wish native linux UI behaved more fluent, and actually fxos felt way better than any native toolkit with much worse hardware. I’m using android because i bought a tablet for drawing and thats the only OS that runs there for now, the pencil and the special screen is all i cared for now. But i wish i didnt had to feel raped everytime i do something with any android device

@pancake I'm actually still using firefoxos, because I like how small Geeksphone Keon (?) is.

And no, using Android does not feel ok. I was wondering why you went from iOS to Android, but yes, there are more hardware choices there.

I like small phones, for example, and Samsung S4 mini is ~ best I could find.

@pavel iOS is my mainly driver, i just wanted an oled non glossy screen for drawing, and for a modic price this tablets does a pretty good job. I wish pmOS was in a better state, i would contribute but I can’t handle more projects and still the browser, keyboard, swipe experience is pretty rusty, not to say the camera which is the main feature i use or the amount of good quality apps iOS have. Adwaita is doing a good job but still far from perfect and battery life is pretty bad compared to android/ios.

B2g was abandoned long time ago and the boot to servo is far from a thing, when mozilla killed fxos is when i decided to stop using firefox. I was and i am still pretty sad about it
