@catsalad When I was like 12 or 13 I modified one of those locks to be the power button thinking it would be so cool to have a computer that could only be turned on with a lock. The rest of my family unfortunately, didn't think so.

@Mustardfacial Like cranking up an engine! Lol
@catsalad as the label said all it does (assuming it is actually wired up to the motherboard at all) is stop input from the keyboard. Pointless even in that era.
β
@Infosecben It gave the "feeling" of security, though? πΉ
@catsalad make sure you rev the processor a few times to make sure the the bits are sufficiently warmed up and circulating.
A cold boot especially in the snowy winter months is a lot of strain on the machine
Follow me for other handy computer tips.
If someone built a 2FA system into a key and lock that looked like that, it might be a fun retro sort of thing π
@monsieuricon @catsalad Actushually, it injected nitric oxide (NOX) into the southbridge, which was then shunted to the CPU via specialized PCB channels.
Which anyone who actually built a homebrew computer in the 80s would know.
Sheesh.
@monsieuricon @catsalad if you put your ear onto the computer whilst pressing βturboβ you can hear Vin Diesel whisper βFamilyβ
@catsalad I especially like how the 3-digit display is labeled "Display".
β
@monsieuricon @catsalad and if you wispered KITTβ¦now!! the computer would JUMP to the ceiling and always land completely unharmed?!
@EndlessMason nope, that one is in my bag. This one is for tubular locks.
β
@alice @EndlessMason @Aprazeth Remember, when picking those lock one must say "tubular" π€
@EndlessMason I found a bodice lock ππΌββοΈ
@catsalad I wish I could use something like this and all surveillance and tracking on my computer would stop immediately.
