@sj @lwn I need to figure out a good way to induce fragmentation of RAM off of a clean boot to be able to adequately benchmark some code I'm working on.

@nyc @lwn Interesting. I wrote and used a program [1] for making such research-purpose artificial memory fragmentation. I also wrote a script [2] for measuring how much the memory is fragmented. If you find something that DAMON might further help, please let me know, I will be happy to help :)

@sj @lwn I'm planning to use it as the primary benchmark on my next (granted, it's been 14 or more years) kernel patch. Hopefully people will like it.
