@jwildeboer we'd have to call it something other than "EU" for Canada to join. :) Maybe "NAU" (North Atlantic Union)?

@jwildeboer (except that's l'UNA in French -- the jokes will write themselves)

Get rid of Farage first and then maybe we can talk.

@monsieuricon @jwildeboer Most Canadians are Europeans by blood anyway right?

If France can claim with a straight face that French Guiana is part of France, I don’t see why Canada can’t be Europe.

Dont think that has been true for a while. Its hard to get an accurate read as we just went through a census and no data yet, but it looks like those from white European origins are less than 50%. Canada is now a very diverse place, especially in the big cities. IMO thats good thing.

That said I think you will find strong support for closer ties to EU.

@jwildeboer Think you'll find a lot of Brits who also think that rejoining has to be a long process not just for practical reasons of alignment and legal process but also because we need to make sure all the rest of the elderly anti-euro lot have finished dying out.

@sleepy62 Valid point, thank you for reminding me that my mental picture of Canada is probably way more out of date than I realized :)
