I get creating song material w/o general purpose computer but what I don't get is this optimizing to not touch to a computer at all costs :-)

This is usually (always) combined with a purchase of a hardware sequencer that costs at least as much as a MacBook Pro :-) and sometimes you have to go to a multi year wait list to get one for yourself.

Personally I bought Macbook Neo to be solely a DAW/sequencer and CME H4MIDI WC MIDI hub to which a WIDI chip can be mounted. Anything from natively supports WIDI. And yeah, I' use Renoise a lot as only tracker DAWs have the tactictility that sort of "glues nicely' with the gear :-)
