I'm impressed with the app. Built in QR code scanner is fast and detected even blurry codes. The stock 6/6T camera app on Android doesn't scan codes at all. This was a big lacking area in as QR codes are everywhere and everyone expects you to be able to scan them but was unable to do so until the recent camera bringup, at least for the OnePlus 6T.

@CalcProgrammer1 This is great news! Nice to see things catch up with (and it's fork millipixels) which provided barcode scanning on / since some time.

@CalcProgrammer1 Hey, that's quite cool. Could you check if you can record video, and if so, in what resolution? I am working on video recording on Librem 5 -- should be able to record in 384p forever -- and would like comparison.

@pavel

With the modified Snapshot from Alpine MR https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/merge_requests/79523

It can record video but it lags out almost instantly and frame rate is nonexistent. Crashed the phone entirely, this was after rebooting and trying again.

@pavel This is with latest unmodified Snapshot, which has lower resolution but better framerate.

@CalcProgrammer1 Thanks! But I got video processed by... mastodon I guess. So what is the best resolution where you can keep 15fps?

@pavel Snapshot doesn't have resolution selection implemented yet so I can't really tell. It just takes video at whatever resolution it wants/defaults to. Hopefully they'll add a mode selection soon.

@CalcProgrammer1
qr scanning does not work for me yet, the camera is flickering way too much...
how do you prevent flickering?

@pocketvj I haven't tried my Poco F1 in a few weeks but last time I tried cameras didn't work at all. How did you get your Poco F1 cameras working?

On the OnePlus 6T, the latest edge kernel and libcamera don't have flickering on the back camera.

@pocketvj According to that link, if you have 6.11 (or newer I would assume?) and Phosh it should just work out of the box. I tried chmoding those paths to 777 to test, but neither Snapshot nor qcam see any cameras. This is on the latest 6.14-rc5 kernel and edge, the same configuration that gets cameras working on my OnePlus 6T.

@pocketvj

What panel variant do you have? Mine is Tianma.

Also, I noticed this:

dmesg | grep imx:

imx363: 4 lanes
imx363 16-0010: Error reading reg 0x0016: -6
imx363 16-0010: failed to read chip id 363

@CalcProgrammer1 is this available on edge directly or do we need to install something ? 😁
