I know, I'll use the US flag for English, and the France flag for French. At least this way I'll equally piss off anglophone and francophone québecois.

(This is wix.com, by the way, who even in 2024 can't conceive that a single country can use multiple languages.)

@monsieuricon the long term solution is for world to unify on a single language. would be lots of benefits and obvs cant happen overnight. I'd argue that the existance of many languages in 2024 is essentially a vestigial holdover of history

@monsieuricon eh, it's pretty common to encounter the UK flag for English. This US citizen does not care.

@sayrer I suggest you try running a community website in, say, Texas, and start using the Mexican flag for the Spanish version of the site. I believe you'll quickly find out just how politically charged such choices can be.

@monsieuricon I think I know exactly how much (I worked on Twitter). Usually, it's just language advocates that are noisy. Like Catalan speakers, or different kinds of Chinese. I get it. Most people do not care.
