5 years since the start of the pandemic and it is frustrating that we still need to keep repeating: vaccines, masks, tests, and cleaning the air all play roles in reducing transmission.

Wrongly claiming that any of these layers isn’t important is an anti-science stance.

@pavel @luckytran vaccines are targeted to individual strains, and are your last line of defense. Ideally, you would never encounter the virus at all. Cleaning the air (ventilation and filtration) and wearing a well-fitted n95 mask in crowded spaces can help protect you from any respiratory disease. None of these protections are 100% perfect, but by layering them you dramatically reduce your risk. You may feel that some of these “aren’t necessary”, but if your goal is to not get sick, then these are the tools we have. And they work better when used together.
