Obsidian has actually been a mixed bag as a studio. All their attempts at being Bethesda But Good have been really disappointing but they also produced the excellent Pentiment. Microsoft is probably to blame.

jwrm22@hsnl.social@stellarskylark Totally agree! Outer wilds was meh, and outer worlds is one of the best games I've ever played. It is an experience, which isn't for everyone, and some of the puzzles are quite tough.

@stellarskylark 'Outer Wilds' is an excellent game, but I admit it is not for everybody. From the finicky controls to the cycle playing cycle, there are parts of the game that may cause people who are not that into the themes and the contextual narrative of the game to find it frustrating. I will say, though, that it may well be the best Sci-Fi game out there.

mikebabcock@floss.social@stellarskylark while I agree that marketing teams failed utterly here, the outer worlds is one of the most fun exploration shooters I've ever played. It had a lot of heart and some really interesting scenarios. To each their own of course.
