To the surprise of no one, the ticket I submitted to #pebble about problems with the UI in left-handed mode has been closed as "completed" despite no work being do to fix the bug.

@pancake disheartening and unwelcoming; so I packed up my text-editor and moved on. It was nice dabbling in C though.

@jezra i wish we had a better hardware for the banglejs. Its imho the best ecosystem for free software watch. Dunno if there would be anything we can do as a community to help espruino with that. But pebble have disappinted me too many times despite they have some great hw..

@pancake @jezra I quite like Bangle.js2. What shortcomings do you see?

@pavel @jezra the only button it have ( i wish it had 3 like the casio) breaks easily. Not water resistant. I wish it had a speaker (and even a micro for voice notes). Wifi support for may be handy too. Larger screen and made of better materials than plastic (screws over glue too)

@pancake its the buttons that are the biggest draw for me.
Having 6 button actions available, makes the Pebble an Assistive Technology device that can also display some limited info, including the time.

@jezra i mean maybe we can just port banglejs software to the pebble hardware xD

@pancake @jezra Some kind of beeper would be nice, agreed. But microphone / wifi would require more fundamental changes -- making it different class of device.

Take a look at Lilygo T-watch: bigger, lower battery life, but wifi + speaker + mic (in some versions). But I consider it different class due to ... well size and battery life.

@pancake @jezra That should not be hard :-). And people were doing more ports, but I can't find repository at the moment. It certainly runs on esp32 :-).

@pancake @jezra Ouch and ... if you want physical buttons and better materials -- check original bangle.js :-). Certainly not for me, and little RAM, but ... https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/bangle-js-smart-watch

@pavel i have two v2, the original one looks too bulky for me. yeah wifi+microphone is definitvely not a must. but the beeper for the notifications (afaik the banglejs2 have one, but its a 12v speaker, with a 5v battery, so you cant hear anything..)

@pancake @jezra Motor is used for sound:

Bad Apple Documentation
Bad Apple demo
"Bad Apple" is like "Hello World" for graphics system. So this is it for Bangle.js2. Watch have no speaker, so vibration motor is used, instead, to produce (pretty quiet) sound.

Tools for preparing bad.araw and bad.vraw are in prep/ directory. Full 3 minute demo should actually fit to the watch.

@pavel in bangle2 the bad apple is just a constant strong vibration, no quiet sound at all

@pancake Here it is no vibrations and very, very quiet sound. I guess low enough current that the motor does not actually move is required.
